Karamellisierte Walnüsse


Zutaten

  • 225 shelled walnuts
  • 100 g sugar
  • 450 g vegetable oil
  • 3 tbs sesame seeds (optional)

Zubereitung

  1. Bring a pan of water to the boil. Add the walnuts and cook for about 10 minutes to blanch them .
  2. Drain the nuts in a sieve, then pat dry with kitchen paper and spread them on a baking tray . Sprinkle the sugar over the walnuts and roll them around to cover them completely. Place the tray into a cool place for at least 2 hours, better over night.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep fat fryer to a moderate heat.
  4. Fry a batch of nuts for about 2 minutes or until the sugar melts and the walnuts turn brown.
  5. Remove the walnuts from the oil with a drainer. Sprinkle with the sesame seeds.
  6. Lay the nuts on a nonstick baking tray to cool.
