As already mentioned on various channels, I brought a fun little card printer with me to this year’s H2HC in Sao Paulo. Here a little bit of information on getting something printed!
What Can be Printed?
Technically speaking anything! The printer is a color double side, over the edge 600DPI card printer. The cards I have in Brazil are CR80 85.6mm x 53.98mm. As such the image I need to print should have the same size.
What do you need to do, to get a custom card?
Easiest approach is to use your favourite graphics editor, I usually use Inkscape, create a page with 85.6mm x 53.98mm or 53.98mm x 85.6mm and start drawing. I’d recommend not having anything vital or important within 2mm of the edge. If you’d like the front and back can be different formats. This would allow a name tag on the one side and an ID card on the other side. Should you just want a single side, just choose a nice image / picture for the back. The image should then be exported as a PNG or JPG with at least 600DPI. While using svg might seem more trivial, it can cause issues with missing fonts.
What do you do with the image?
Send an eMail to cardprint@security-bits.de containing the image for the front and the image for the back of the card and your name. I’ll reply and send to a number, just to make sure I can find your specific images when we meet during the conference.
You want the HackerID card style card?
As previously posted, I’ll be happy to print to you a clean looking HackerID Card . Should you want one of these either just visit me on site and you get to type in your data, or send me an eMail to cardprint@security-bits.de with:
- Subject: HackerID
- Your Handle
- Your First Name
- Your Last Name
- Your Date of Birth, should you want it on the card
- Up to 4 Links and titles you’d like on the card as QR codes
- i.e. “Github”, “link to your repo/account”
Limits
Every project has its limits, so does printing these cards. Please understand that I’m not able to print anything creates the impression of being a formal state issued ID card or contains typical state insignias. That said, adding a flag or something obviously isn’t an issue! Should I think a design might be problematic I’m open to discussion.
Special Request?
Just drop me a mail!
